I've been a decorative painter for quite awhile and I just recently expanded to windows. I had alot of fun doing my first one but it sure did get some getting use to. I still have two more to do but since "I'm painting on the outside, I've been put on hold by this blasted weather. --Brenda Ramsey--

I just found this site myself. I recently started my sign business in California after a 5 year hiatus. It is a great field, so far so good-there will always be ups and downs in selling your work. I strive to keep improving and charge a consistent and fair rate. Good luck. --Kevin Mann--

I also paint yard art and wall murals, so I'm almost always busy.
My weakest point though is lettering. I still have trouble with that if I try to do it freehand. I usually just print it out and use that as a guide. It keeps my spacing right and stops me from going uphill. --Brenda Ramsey--

I am interested to know how you print out the lettering template. Do you have a site that you use or a special computer program... or do you just use the font on your computer? --cammi--

I use a computer program that has several different font options that I print out to give to the customer. After they choose the font and the size, I printout the basic layout and take it to a print company that enlarges to the size I need. They print building plans and things like that. I can enlarge it up to 36in tall.
On site, I just tape it to the inside of the window using a level to make sure it's straight then follow the design. --Brenda Ramsey--

Help with lettering-Masking tape is your friend! I go thru TONS of masking tape. I use the cheap kind, like 3 rolls for a dollar. Tape a straight, level line (eyeball it) and use it for the bottom of your line of copy. If you need to, use another line of tape for the tops of your letters...Draw with crayon or soap, and begin painting. Miss Nye
